Two keys for making money from writing

First key is being persistent, not only in writing or submitting work to publishers, but with your own daily habits. For example, do you dawdle a lot on a weekday or Saturday morning? Why? Until you figure out why, you won't be able to get to the root of your problem or find a way of overcoming it. Aside from personal hygiene, nutrition and work issues, how else are you spending your time?

Second key is putting a unique spin on a given idea or product. To begin, you have to narrow a wide subject, such as astronomy, into a more manageable topic. Then you should figure out what that aspect would appeal to and why. Perhaps it will appeal to more than one audience, which is great news! You will be able to milk the topic dry, putting a unique spin on it, then formatting it in an article, story, novel or nonfiction book. One way to do this is by finding a connection between two unrelated terms, such as Monopoly and relationships, then making a statement or assertion that connects them logically. Which audience will really pay attention to that statement?
