those writing magazines
I've always enjoyed writing magazines, and for a number of years, had been a long term subscriber to The Writer and Writer's Digest. Those magazines regularly published good, practical "meaty" articles that I sometimes clipped and saved for future reference. I still have quite a stack of older copies sitting in a large cardboard carton in the basement.
Anyway, those magazines have changed and not always in a good way. For example, they both have more ads and fewer meaty articles. They both cost more. I have since discontinued my subscriptions to them, although I will still read copies at the library and occasionally borrow one or two copies to read at home.
My point is that while both of these magazines are useful overall, they still have a ways to go in making themselves valuable to writers. They could feature more articles, for starters. And a few of those articles could focus on topics of interest to experienced writers. And finally, the caveat, buyer beware, applies. If possible, read a few copies at the library and then decide for yourself whether you'd like to subscribe.
