Match your expertise to peoples' needs and profit

For starters, just consider your experience at home and at work: you've bought a home, rented an apartment, moved from one city or state to another, adapted nicely to your surroundings, planned another move or vacation, cleaned and decorated your home, shopped for necessary items, raised one or more children (or lived alone), applied for credit cards and jobs, budgeted your time and money, baked, bought a new or used car, took driving lessons, wrote, drove, visited dentists and doctors, gone to movies or rented them, found a hobby such as antiquing, visited (or put on) a garage sale, traveled, owned one or more pets, made friends, dealt with your enemies, got through the happy and sad times.

You've gone to school, earned a degree, pursued your career, experienced ups and downs in it, found ways to make it more satisfying, changed or combined careers, opted out of the rat race, learned new skills on your own.

At work, you've learned new skills, established rapport with colleagues, gave a presentation, took work home, met deadlines, survived the commuter rush, found shortcuts, met other obligations, such as taking kids to soccer lessons, accommodated husband's busy schedule, cut down expenses for lunch, read the paper and company communications, spoke to clients via the phone and e-mail, went on business trips, applied for unemployment benefits, changed jobs, was fired.

Now comes the fun part: look at all the things you've done and decide what things you could talk endlessly about to friends or family. If you had to do those things all over again, would you or could you? What did you learn along the way? What would you have done differently? What mistakes did you make? Could you have found ways to avoid them? What do you consider yourself knowledgeable about and why?

Brainstorm other questions and answer them.

Remember that if you experienced pleasure or problems, someone else may be very interested in learning about them and how you coped.

There are countless ideas in everyday activities, but the problem is, a lot of us assume that others would not be interested or that others would be bored in hearing about them. Don't give in to those assumptions! After all, there is no one else quite like you. No one's perspective is exactly like yours! You have a lot of material to work with. Write about what you feel most enthusiastic about one way or the other and prosper!
